Leicester Progressive Jewish Congregation is a warm and welcoming community for Jews of all backgrounds. We have our own synagogue, hold Shabbat services every week and celebrate the major Jewish festivals. We provide a thriving religion school (cheder) for our children. We conduct life cycle ceremonies, as well as organising a range of cultural, educational and social action activities.
We are part of Liberal Judaism, a movement which is founded on the principles of equality and inclusively.
Our Hebrew name is Neve Shalom. This is taken from Neve Shalom/Wahat al Salaam (Oasis of Peace) a village near Jerusalem where Jews, Christians and Muslims live and work together. This village provides a constant source of inspiration and hope to our community.
