Leicester and District Mutual Football League.
THE PLAYING OF FRIENDLY FIXTURES WHILST TEAMS HAVE OUTSTANDING LEAGUE FIXTURES IS DEPLORED BY THE LEAGUE.There have been many instances recently of team Managers refusing to accept a League fixture "because they have already arranged a friendly".

No League would accept this situation and teams persisting in this practice will not be accepted next season.

All advertisements for friendly fixtures on the Guestbook have been deleted and no more will be accepted until the League programmes are complete.

This is by order of the League's Executive Committee.
ABOUT US
The Leicester and District Mutual Football League was founded in the year 1900 and was originally a "Sunday School" League. At one time the League had 164 teams in 16 divisions and was described by the Daily Mail as the "biggest Football League" in the Country.
In 1998 the Football Association decreed that no child under the age of ten could play competitive football at 11-a-side on full sized pitches with full-sized goals and footballs.
This came at a time when the Mutual League was about to amalgamate with the Leicester City Football League to form one viable Saturday afternoon League adult football in the City area. The remaining teams in the League joined the Leicester City League.
The Mutual League then re-formed as a "Mini-Soccer" League starting with under eights and under nines in the first season.
The new League extended to under tens the following season. The League now has 82 Member Clubs providing fixtures for some 3,600 youngsters in 346 teams for the 2009/10 season. 48 teams in the under sevens section, 80 teams under 8 section; 104 teams under 9 and 114 teams in the under ten section.

This web-site will normally be updated every Sunday night before 6 pm during the playing season with the days' results and updated charts for the under nines and tens only. The FA do not allow publication of U7 or U8 results and charts as this age group has to be played as a "non-competitive" game.

As a consequence of the FA Law change;

UNDER EIGHT PLAYERS CAN NO LONGER PLAY IN THE UNDER NINES LEAGUE. The FA Rule States:-

To play in a KO Cup game or a game where points are awarded, or results collected, a player must have achieved the age of 8 on or before 31st August.

ADVICE FOR CLUB SECRETARIES

ALL PAYMENTS (Except for Registrations) TO THE LEAGUE MUST BE SENT TO MR FINN AND
CHEQUES MADE PAYABLE TO THE "MUTUAL LEAGUE". BOUNCED CHEQUES MUST BE REDEEMED IN CASH AND THE BANK'S CHARGES WILL BE PASSED ON TO THE CLUB (Currently £25).

THE HOME CLUB MUST NOTIFY THE VISITING CLUB AT LEAST SEVEN DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED DATE OF THE MATCH. IF NOTIFICATION IS BY
TELEPHONE ENSURE YOU SPEAK DIRECTLY TO A RESPONSIBLE MEMBER OF THE VISITING CLUB. BE SURE THAT COLOURS AND KICK OFF TIMES ARE FULLY UNDERSTOOD BY THE VISITORS AND AGREED BETWEEN THE CLUBS.

RESULTS OF ALL MATCHES OR THE REASON WHY THE MATCH HAS NOT BEEN PLAYED MUST BE TELEPHONED TO MR WARD on 2357217 as soon as possible after the match but in any event not later than 3.30 pm. Do not leave your call until the last minute.
When ‘phoning results please give: Age Group, Division, Club & Team names, Correct Score and Goalscorers plus any unusual or outstanding feature.
Compliance with the above will enable John to meet his Press Deadline and for the websites to be updated earlier in the evening.
Calls after 3.30 pm are too late for inclusion in the Press results and reports.

Also, for the u9 and u10 age groups only, A FULLY COMPLETED result card with the names of the players actually taking part and a correct up-to-date team record filled in must be delivered within three days of the match. The result card is a very important document and must be accurately and promptly submitted to the League's CHART SECRETARY.

At the 2009 AGM a request was made to consider an option of an E-mail version of the scorecard - this is now available on the dedicated page opposite - note if you use this method there are conditions of use attached.

Mrs Karen Hollings,20 Galloway Close, Barwell,Leics. LE9 8HL.

Club General Secretaries can be found in the County FA Directory if required.

All kick-offs 10-30 Sunday mornings unless otherwise stated or agreed between the Clubs 7 days prior to match date.

When postponing fixtures or advising kick-off times etc. Clubs with more than one team in the same age group must make it clear which team (or teams) is/are involved. This is very important when more than one team manager is involved.
_____________________________

N.B. If matches are played on any day other than Sunday, the availability of players must be consented to by their Head Teacher. (F.A. Rule C(4)(ix))

It would be appreciated if fixtures can be brought forward instead of postponed.

TEAM MANAGERS' DUTIES

1.BEFORE THE GAME
CONTACT YOUR OPPONENTS AT LEAST FIVE DAYS BEFORE THE
SCHEDULED DATE FOR THE MATCH CHECKING ON THE VENUE,
KICK-OFF TIME AND COLOURS. IF YOU OR YOUR OPPONENTS
HAVE MORE THAN ONE TEAM IN THE AGE GROUP ENSURE YOU
AND THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME TEAM.

2.ON THE DAY OF THE MATCH
ENSURE YOU HAVE AVAILABLE WELL BEFORE KICK-OFF TIME :-
PLAYERS' KIT, GOALS, NETS, CORNER FLAGS, FOOTBALLS,
WHISTLE, WATCH, COIN, NOTE-BOOK AND PEN, PLAYERS'
REGISTRATION CARDS, TEAM SHEET, FIRST-AID KIT.

3.AFTER THE MATCH
1. PAY REFEREE;

2. TELEPHONE RESULT TO JOHN WARD as soon as possible after
The end of the match.(see Hand Book page 5 for times)

3. COMPLETE MATCH CARD CORRECTLY AND FULLY AND POST TO MRS HOLLINGS BY MONDAY A.M. If e-mailing a scorecard it has to be with Karen by Wednesday after the match latest.

NOTE : Only 9s and 10s complete scorecards.

The above illustrates what an onerous task is the Team Managers'.

You will need help with all this. Delegate some of the tasks and responsibilities to reliable helpers. e.g. a parent (or grandparent)
could very easily ring in the result to John Ward
for you, with any goal-scorers and/or interesting item after the match.

Most of the fines imposed by the League are for failing to telephone results on time and failing to submit a correctly filled in results card on time. The updated record at the foot of the results card is very important to us please ensure this is always filled in correctly.

Your success will be measured not by the match result but by the way you and your team conduct themselves on and off the pitch, the efficient and courteous way you carry out all the above duties and most of all by the pleasure gained by the young players in your charge.

THE LEAGUE EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF INTRODUCING VERY YOUNG CHILDREN TO FOOTBALL IN A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE ENVIRONMENT. WE SHOULD NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF THIS AIM BY GETTING CARRIED AWAY WITH EMOTION AND ANGER WHEN THINGS DON’T GO TO PLAN.
Bad behaviour will not be tolerated.
