Rowley Fields Allotment Society
WELCOME TO OUR HOME PAGE...
Rowley Fields is one of Leicester's largest allotment societies. At present we have over 302 members, new members are always welcomed from any part of the community.
Our aim is to encourage others who enjoy gardening, and show
The Society
Rob wins the day with 7st 7lbs. The main entrance to our society is on Meredith Road,Rowley Fields,Leicester.

We are less than a mile from the city centre but we have Aylestone Meadows country park and nature reserve and the old Great Central Railway on our boundaries.
The location and view gives the feeling of being in the country. There is a abundance of wildlife to enjoy.

Rowley Fields is the largest single site society in the City with 302 members. We are members of the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners and Leicester Allotment Gardeners Council and recomend all Allotment Societies join NSALG.

The site covers almost 23 acres, with 281 plots, the average plot size being 300sq yds. Many of the gardens have a small shed, some also have a greenhouse of some type and nearly all have fruit trees or soft fruit bushes. There is also mains water access to all the gardens and the whole site is well secured with high fences. The average yearly ground rent per plot is a very reasonable £19.50.

Allotments are becoming more popular again for various reasons.
Lots of people are aware of the heavy use of chemicals in today's farming methods and don't like it; or the thought of GM crops might make you think about what you're eating.

Growing your own Organic fruit and veg is very popular these days.

Maybe there isn't room in the garden at home to grow and experiment with all the things you'd like to grow. New housing doesn't seem to cater for gardeners today.

Whatever your reason or whatever you want to grow, there's a plot waiting for you at your local Allotment Society call on 0116 2331489 or Leicester City Council on 0116 2518666.
