The Electric Yetis is a charity football team consisting of Leicester City supporters.
The team formed in November 1997, initially to represent the Foxes in a one-off game against its Derby County counterparts.
Swayed by a 5-3 victory, the team continued to fly the flag for the team it supported in matches and tournaments against fans' sides representing other Clubs.
Before long the team discovered it could raise money for charity simply by playing the sport it loved so much. Not only that but it became rather good at it. So much so, in fact, that in 2002 the Electric Yetis charitable trust (an appeal which mainly provides practical help to sick and disabled youngsters) was registered with the Charity Commission.
More than a dozen fund-raising tournaments, not to mention a host of other charity events, later, the team has now raised in excess of £19k and has helped literally thousands of people all over the world!
The doors are always open to new members, both on and off the pitch. The team prides itself on its "football for all" ethos and anyone is welcome to join in, irrespective of age, ability, experience, fitness, or gender.
The team's motto - "It's not just about winning. It's about taking part and building bridges between rival supporters" - is so good that many other supporters' teams have adopted it as their own!
If you'd like to find out more about what we do, would like to get involved, need our help, or represent a rival team looking for a team, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We would be delighted to hear from you.
