ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH –PITHIVIERS
TWINNING ASSOCIATION
ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH is a market town of some 14,000 inhabitants situated in the very heart of England in the county of Leicester with Burton-on-Trent to the west, Derby to the north, Nottingham to the north-east and Leicester to the south-east.

|
PITHIVIERS lies in the centre of the département of Loiret some 60 miles south of Paris and 30 miles north-east of Orleans. It is quite similar to Ashby as a market town with important local industries, such as sugar and pharmaceuticals and this, of course, is why the two towns selected each other for twinning. It has a largely autonomous municipal authority and is the seat of a deputy-prefect.
THIS YEAR WE CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TWINNING IN ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH.
