The South Leicestershire Council for Voluntary Service covers the Harborough District Council area. The CVS is a registered charity which aims to help voluntary groups in this area. Our offices are based in Market Harborough and Lutterworth.
An elected Executive Committee, representing the funders and voluntary activity in Harborough District, oversees the management of the CVS
The CVS has four main aims. We:
- To support sustainable development of orgaisations in the local voluntary and community sector.
- To provide support which will underpin the functioning and develop the capacity of local voluntary and community groups.
- To develop and maintain links across the voluntary and community, statutory and private sectors and promote the ability for all sectors to network with each other.
- To enable the diverse views of the local voluntary and community sector to be represented to local statutory bodies and others and, where appropriate, to be a conduit for this representation.
- To view involvement in strategic partnerships as a means to ensure involvement and a strong voice from voluntary and community groups.
Our services are all aimed at enabling the Voluntary Sector, in the Harborough area, to meet their own objectives by supplying services and equipment which they may not otherwise have access to. We also aim to enable them to communicate with the CVS, group to group and with the statutory bodies so often connected to their activities.
